I emailed in a suggestion to the Newsvine staff the other day about creating special chat rooms for the World Cup. This would hopefully help kick off a small spur for using the chat rooms. I feel they'd make wonderful additions to some stories and in particular it could be a blast just talking to people about the games.

Thus far, no response from the staff about whether they will do this. So for now I'm offering a suggestion. If you are looking for discussion on the World Cup, join me in the chat room "World Cup 2006." Just goto Chat Lobby in The Backyard, check the "Most Active Chats" section and see if it's there. If not, type it in under Start Your Own Chat. Tonight for example, I will be hanging out in a chat room called "NBA Finals" where hopefully people will join me for live discussion of Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Mavs vs. Heat.

Thus, feel free to do this for any sporting match. I think live discussion during matches will be fun. I've been doing it on IRC with a few soccer buddies of mine and we've all been having a lot of fun. Hopefully it'll carry over here to Newsvine.
